Volterra

Volterra, thanks to its strategic position, offers the view one of the most astonishingly beautiful nature landscapes in Tuscany.
It was one of the twelve Etruscan "lucumonie" by the name of Velathri. During the Roman period it became a very important dominating power over the surrounding territory. In the Middle Ages it became a free city and walking through its very enchanting historical centre today we can see how the town planning has maintained intact its Medieval character.
