This itinerary gives us the chance to
see the incomparable landscape of the green valleys and
striking mountains of Garfagnana as well as the magnificent
beauty of the dramatic territory of the Apuan Alps. Ancient
medieval villages, Romanesque churches (pievi) provide
the perfect backdrop to this itinerary.
Meeting with guide and departure from Lucca
-Driving along the valley of the river Serchio we reach the
ancient town of Borgo a Mozzano. There will be a stop at
the mythical
Ponte del Diavolo
-we drive on to
Barga. We visit the medieval centre with
its 11th century Romanesque cathedral. Inside the cathedral
is an exceptionally beautiful pulpit
-visit to the
Pieve romanica di Loppia (Loppia's Romanesque
church)

Castiglione Garfagnana a fortified
village
