The historical Florentine Hills, from Fiesole
to Settignano
We set off from Fiesole, an Etruscan but later Roman city,
admiring the
most breathtaking view of Florence. We retrace the ancient
Via degli Scalpellini and stop for a visit to the quarries
of "pietra serena" a stone used in Renaissance
Florence.
Crossing a countryside which bears witness to the harmonious
balance between man and nature we reach the Neo-Gothic
Castello di Vincigliata and then make our way to the characteristic
village of Settignano.
Difficulty : an easy excursion of historical and artistic
interest with a beautiful landscape

From Piazzale Michelangelo to
Arcetri along the ancient walls of Florence
We take a leisurely stroll from Piazzale Michelangelo along
the enchanting streets to the hill of Arcetri. We then
come to the Romanesque church of San Miniato, the medieval
castle of Torre del Gallo, the numerous farmhouses and
villas with their beautiful parks, which in time have housed
distinguished figures, until we reach Forte di Belvedere.
The quiet and magnificent views from the Florentine hilltops
and ancient villages will plunge us in the exquisite Tuscan
countryside while being at a stone's throw from the city
of Florence.
Difficulty: very easy excursion interesting for its landscape
and historical and artistic importance.
Duration : Half-day
In Chianti from Castle to Castle
Etruscans, Romans, Medieval knights and even our
allied forces passed this way. We shall follow their
trail and see the settlements on our way which have
in time been transformed as Il Castello delle Convertoie
and Il Castello di Uzzano, birthplace of Niccolò,
adversary of Cosimo de' Medici.
Today the castle di Uzzano has become a farm for
the production of a renowned Chianti wine.
Difficulty: an easy excursion, very interesting for
the landscape and historical characteristics. A must
for food and wine lovers.

Terracotta trail, from Impruneta to Falciani
We set off from Piazza Buondelmonti in Impruneta,
a world renowned locality for the production of fine
terracotta, through a mixed wood- pinewood, which
is characteristic of the hills south- east of Florence,
down to Falciani along roads which offer spectacular
views. At the end of our walk we will visit a typical
workshop where we can witness the making of artistic
terracotta.
Difficulty: simple excursion, culturally interesting
with spectacular landscape views.

The Medici and The Mugello
From S. Piero a Sieve we come to the fortress of
S. Martino, stronghold of the pass that led to Florence,
and we continue down the hills until we come to the
Medicean villa del Trebbio. The itinerary continues
and we walk through woods and fields until we come
to a very suggestive Pieve (church)from which stretches
before us the entire valley of the Mugello, treating
us to an amazingly spectacular view.
Difficulty: simple excursion of historical and naturalistic
interest with beautiful landscapes.

Chianti: Greve - Verazzano
This is one of the most interesting itineraries in
the heart of the Florentine Chianti. We will stop
at the splendid structure that is the Castello di
Verazzano, birthplace of the famous sailor, where
we
can indulge in the tasting of the excellent local
products. We have included in this itinerary a stop
at the characteristic village of Montefioralle, which
retains its original medieval structure, and another
stop at the Romanesque Pieve (church) of San Cresci.
Difficulty: simple excursion, interesting for its
landscape and art and perfect for wine and food lovers.
Duration: full day.
