Lunigiana valley (full day)
|
Since Stone Age Lunigiana has been succeeded
by different civilizations. Each one of these has left
important marks. The Stelae Statues and tombe a cassetta
(a burial procedure) have been attributed to Ligurians
native of the Apuans but there are also traces of the Roman
civilization.
The importance of this land further increased during the
Medieval pilgrimages as it was the main thoroughfare, leading
pilgrims from Northern Europe to Lucca and Rome.
